Services

IL Skills Training:

Assisting people with disabilities to develop necessary skills to take control of their lives and promote their positions in community activities. Training is individualized and includes setting and achieving goals in: personal safety, finances and working with support services.

Advocacy:

Providing skills and assistance to encourage and empower people to pursue personal, system and legislative change at all levels. Current advocacy programs include: Empowering Our Youth, for young persons with disabilities ages 17-20. Take Action, a general program in advocacy open to anyone, and Right Flank March, an advocacy program for veterans with disabilities.

Peer Support:

The support of a peer can be more powerful and meaningful than that of a “professional.” We have trained peer supporters on staff and offer training for individuals wishing to become peer supporters.

Information and Referrals:

We maintain a database of resources (financial assistance, housing, legal assistance, etc.) to enhance the awareness of issues, resources and services for people with disabilities and the general community.  Call, e-mail or come in for more information.

Employment:

We offer weekly classes that focus on job preparedness. From organizing your resume to preparing your “elevator speech” for job fairs, our class prepares people with disabilities to obtain their desired employment. disABILITY LINK is a designated service provider for the Ticket to Work program.

Independent Care Waiver Service Coordination:

disABILITY LINK offers service coordination to people who receive the Independent Care Wavier (ICW). This is one of Georgia’s waiver programs. We work to coordinate state approved services to assist with obtaining necessary support (personal care attendants, medical supplies, etc.). As a result, recipients are able to take back control of their lives and live independently in the community and stay out of nursing homes and institutions.

Transportation:

Limited transportation options present challenges for individuals with disabilities.  If you are transitioning out of a nursing home or seeking employment you may be eligible for our transportation voucher program.  Travel training and transportation advocacy are also available upon request.
